Blogger Block and Motivating Your Self.

Bloggers Block Motivating Your SelfHello, my name is Andrew Bryant and I have bloggers block – it has been 3 months since my last blog post!

As an author on self-leadership I am not one for making excuses, so let’s just say I have been busy but I have to say I have missed the writing. Some of you may follow me on Twitter or LinkedIn and so you will know that I have typed a few words, here and there but 140 characters is pretty limiting and so I have sat down this rainy Saturday afternoon at the end of November to once more connect thought to  keyboard and end my bloggers block.

Since my last post on Life Hacking, I have traveled extensively, including;

  • Talking about innovation and leadership to CIO’s in Pune, India
  • Aligning bankers to their mission Mauritius
  • Helping Hard Rock Hotel and Cafes to find out what’s important to their people
  • Trouble shooting people issues for a chemical company in Sydney, Australia
  • Sharing how to Influence without authority for a bank in Hong Kong
  • Motivating Indonesian insurance agents in Singapore
  • Helping software engineers to leverage leadership in Hyderabad, India
  • Back to Sydney to transform a toxic culture
  • Inspiring another insurance company in Singapore
  • Moved managers to lead at Marina Bay Sands
  • Briefly visited Bangkok to coach a CEO

And that’s just the highlights! But I am sure you are busy too, and as one busy person to another let me share with you what I have learned in the last 3 months. Without reflecting and writing we can get caught up in the  business and lose our passion and purpose. I was homeward bound on a plane just 2-days ago, and found myself questioning why I do what I do and whether I was making a difference. I know, it’s the fatigue speaking, and that’s my point – when we get busy and tired we can become numb to the importance of what we do. Just reviewing the list of what I have achieved since my last post has re-inspired me to do it all again, but better, but not before I take a break and spend some extended time with my kids.

Motivating Your Self

Yes, the holidays are coming! The Americans have already had Thanksgiving and it will soon be Christmas and then, shortly after, time for New Years resolutions. Sometimes setting goals can be daunting and leave us somewhat cynical as we have often failed to fully complete targets in the past. Writing this post has reminded me of the important motivational technique looking back, not at your past failures, but at your past successes and realizing how far you have come. When I started my speaking and coaching career, any of the engagements listed above would have had me jumping for joy; and if you had told me I could have done them all in a quarter of a year, I would have not believed you.

It may seem to early to start thinking about 2014 as many of you are still shooting to hit Q4 targets, but I can highly recommending taking time, before the end of the year, to look back and see how far you have come, and may that inspire you to raise the bar in terms of living with passion and purpose in the year to come.

No More Bloggers Block

As for me, my fingers have just flown over the keyboard and I feel fab that the bloggers block is banished, just by adopting the NIKE philosophy, and just doing it. I have some exciting plans for 2014, I have pitched some ideas for TV and set a goal to give a TED talk. What have you succeeded in this year, and what are you inspired to do in 2014
